I’ve fallen in love with vintage lace. It’s romantic and nostalgic. Lace was regarded an indication of the prestige, fashion and wealth of its wearer during Renaissance times.
Vintage lace was initially handcrafted and required intense attention to detail. The process was painstakingly slow and incredibly delicate. Though it was made according to a pattern that might be copied, each piece of lace was essentially unique. One strip of lace could take months to make! In the early 1800’s the Leavers mechanical lace machine was invented – which meant more beautiful lace for us today!
Every wardrobe should include at least one piece of vintage lace.
Wear vintage, and breathe easy.
